TorahMates

TorahMates
Stress-free, cost-free and yet priceless, Torah Mates has connected hundreds of Jewish men and women with volunteer telephone learning partners to explore Judaism. Torah Mates coordinators match up participants with a volunteer who is compatible in terms of personality and interests. Coordinators follow up, helping to keep the partnership on track.

Some Torah Mates partners start with beginners’ Hebrew classes so that they can and learn the language of our prayers and sacred texts. Others choose to delve into the classics of Jewish thought. And hundreds of partners have found not only invaluable sources of wisdom in their Torah Mates learning, but an invaluable new friend as well.

Shailos Hotline
The Torah is a Jew’s guide to life, but how does a person know what the Torah’s advice might be in a given situation? That’s why people ask a shaila – a question of Jewish law – when they don’t know what to do. Sometimes a shaila can be technical, dealing with dietary laws or Shabbat or some other area of observance. Other times, it can be more personal – for instance, how to resolve a family conflict.

Whatever the problem, asking a shaila provides security, insight and direction for life. And by simply dialing the shaila hotline, everyone in the Oorah family can avail himself or herself of this invaluable resource, with all questions answered by qualified rabbis who take the time to understand each situation and offer the best guidance possible.
