Marketing Department Declared Clutter Free
As the year draws to a close, it is incumbent upon every employee to take a good look back and see what they’ve accomplished. In the marketing department, this was meant to be taken quite literally. Plainly spoken, it was a mess. Marketing team members realized things were getting pretty out of hand in their quiet little corner of the Big Room when the clutter was becoming insistent on being fed at regular intervals throughout the day.
But yesterday, a new era was heralded in – one without boxes, old auction books, outdated mockups, etc. – and it looks like a bright, happy, and much cleaner future in store for all who work there.
Special thank you to Rabbi Katz of the maintenance department for his assistance in clearing up the mess!

What Goes Around Comes Around…
Oorah had sponsored Joellen through her years in Yeshiva giving her the opportunity to learn what it means to be a Jew. Now she is spreading this special meaning to so many others on her college campus.
Below is an email that we received from Joellen:
Recently I’ve started the first Jewish organization of the University of the Sciences/Philadelphia College of Pharmacy campus in quite a few years. We had a Hillel about 5 years ago, but it went inactive. In order to start this group I had to obtain the signatures of 10 interested students. Along with another student, we ended up with 20 signatures! As the designated speaker for the group, I went in front of the student government and convinced them to recognize the group as a campus organization. After a night of deliberation, they accepted our constitution! For our first activity as Jewish Life on campus, we will be having a pre-Chanukah party to teach everyone how to play dreidel and invite everyone to enjoy hot Kosher latkes, which I don’t think has ever happened before. We plan to have a Tu B’Shevat party, groups to walk to shul together, a Purim megillah reading on campus complete with homemade hamentaschen and a grand mock Seder lead by one of the Jewish teachers in advising. Lots of students are excited about the prospect of active Jewish life on campus, from the Jewish freshmen to nonJewish students interested in learning about different cultures.

A Real Little Star
We are “repeat customers” at Jewish Little Star. Last year our daughter was in the 4 year old class. The teachers prepared her very well for kindergarten, which she recently began. At Little Star not only did she gain confidence and learn to interact with classmates, but by the spring she could recognize numbers up to 100 and knew all of the letters of both the Hebrew and English alphabet. At Little Star she was exposed to not only her Jewish heritage and holidays, but also science, geography and the secular holidays. Little Star’s program helped her make a smooth transition to kindergarten.
Our daughter had such a great experience that we were excited to enroll our son in the 3 year old class this fall. So far we have not had a single day that he’s reluctant to go to school. He loves it so much and is actually disappointed when the day is over because he wants to stay! The teachers are friendly, competent and caring and they provide a stimulating and welcoming environment. We can’t say enough good things about Jewish Little Star and wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a nurturing, fun, Jewish environment for their preschooler.

Feedback from ChillZone Passaic
We started off Passaic ChillZone this week and it was a great success! Twelve campers came from different areas, in addition more than half these campers had never been to TheZone before and were just brought by their friends.
We started off decorating T-shirts, eating Pizza, danced, raffled prizes and Mr. Stein came over and shared a short story and lesson with everyone. Even the kids who were never in camp before were very enthusiastic and danced along to the camp songs even if they didn’t know the motions! When the mothers came to pick up their kids they were thrilled to hear this would be going on every Motzei Shabbos!!
I’m looking forward to continuing this program and keep on expending it to an even larger group!
Thank you for all of the help!!

Break In at TheZone
Several expensive items from the children’s game-room at The Zone summer camp facility were found to be missing Thursday morning Nov 16, after someone broke in to a back window at the basement level entertainment center of the main building on the former Scotch Valley campus in Stamford.
‘This is someone who knew what he was doing,’ was Hershel Brisk, site manager’s, immediate response to the crime. ‘The burglar knew exactly where to go and which window to break to gain access to our entertainment equipment.’ Surveillance cameras and finger prints are being thoroughly investigated to reveal the identity of the intruder, with the assistance from local authorities, whose help The Zone is exceedingly grateful for.
‘This is a huge disappointment to the underprivileged youth who attend the summer program provided by The Zone, as a haven from their turbulent lives, and to our generous donors who purchased our game-room stock,’ stated Rabbi Avraham Krawiec, camp director. ‘We are pretty dismayed that someone could steal like this from children, it is hard to believe that someone would willingly wish to deprive kids from enjoying their summer to the fullest, an opportunity they wait for all year.’
Oorah is not taking this incident lightly and is issuing a $2,000 reward to the lead resulting in the apprehension of the perpetrator and the missing items which include a number of PC3’s, a wii and dance-pad controller.
Any information relating to this incident can be forwarded in confidence to Chaim at 732 730 1000 ext. 147 or chaim.brisman@oorah.org
