Girls Winter ShabbaZone

Bookmark and Share

This past Shabbos, TheZone was full once again with hundreds of smiling, happy faces. The campus looked a bit different with snow in place of sunshine, but the energy and excitement that characterizes every TheZone event was the same.

Just check out all the pics and videos on TheZone’s Facebook page to see how much fun everyone had!

Thanksgiving and Giving Thanks to the IDF

Bookmark and Share

This Thanksgiving, at ChillZone locations across the country, boys and girls put a lesson in hakaras hatov, gratitude, into practice by writing thank you letters to IDF troops serving in Israel.

The letters contained touching expressions of heartfelt appreciation for the dedication the young soldiers have for their country.

“Keep your head up high and never give up,” one reads. “Me and everyone else at TheZone believe in you and your soldier friends. We are so lucky to have you fight for our country.”

ChillZone continues despite Hurricane Sandy

Bookmark and Share

It was all over in the span of just a few hours, but the damage Hurricane Sandy left behind will take weeks to recover from. But through all the chaos and confusion, our fearless and dedicated ChillZone leaders made sure that ChillZone carried on! All across the East Coast, even in areas hard hit by the storm, TheZone campers made it to their local ChillZone groups. Some locations had to be changed- our Highland Park program took place in an emergency squad building(!) – but we were there. Check out the pictures and see how much fun we had!

Grand Debut of ChillZone in Philly

Bookmark and Share

Here’s the report of the first ChillZone in Philly, one of our newest locations, from TheZone staffer Rivky Gross:

Baruch Hashem everything went very well! We had 17 kids there and each kid was so excited to be there! They all plan on coming back and bringing friends along with them.

For learning we had three high school girls (two who were in camp three years ago) teaching the younger girls. It worked out great and one of the parents even took the learning home so she can have it for herself.

There was one carpool from Bala Cynwd which is a nice long drive away and the mother asked Estie if we can move ChillZone there. After Estie told her that we’re staying in the Northeast for now, she said, “It’s ok, we’ll just pay someone to drive all the girls.” The mothers were all so impressed, they couldn’t stop thanking us and commenting about how nice everything is: the prizes, the food, etc.

As all the kids left, we overheard them telling their parents that they want to come back every week!!

The 2012 Zone camp season has officially ended. The second girls’ session finished yesterday and we truly miss our campers!

Not to worry though. Plans for ChillZone and Yom Tov programs are already in the works and TheZone spirit will continue throughout the year!

National ChillZone PARTY!

Bookmark and Share

As a successful ChillZone season draws to a close, Zoniacs from ChillZone locations across the Tri-State area gathered in New York for a final ChillZone banquet on Sunday. 200+ girls enjoyed a half-hour of learning followed by a magic show, a talk from Rabbi Chaim Mintz and great food. Of course, best of all, was the chance to reunite with fellow Zoniacs for a fun-filled evening.

Now we’re even more excited for the start of camp in just a few weeks!

As one parent said, “My daughter had a great time and she always looked forward to going every week!”

Thank you to the Liberson sisters for making this ChillZone location a success!!

Five More Minutes!

At ChillZone in TheZone this past Pesach, hundreds of kids were screaming to learn another 5 minutes with their TorahMates…What a beautiful sight! On Monday night of Chol Hamoed we had our girl’s program and on Tuesday night, we had the boys. We can’t wait to do this again!
