A nice crowd gathered at the Torah Spot for a joint celebration of Chanukah and Torah Spot’s third anniversary. After an inspiring talk by Rabbi Chaim Mintz, everybody celebrated with good food, music, dancing and an enjoyable audio-visual presentation. All the participants enjoyed celebrating with their Torah Spot family and a good time was had by all.

Last night, November 1, 2011, Oorah celebrated a monumental occasion with a beautiful siyum at the Torah Spot in honor of Oleg Bobrysh’s completion of the entire Chamisha Chumshei Torah. The siyum was attended by more than 90 people from varied backgrounds, including Torah Spot attendees, Torah Mates at the Torah Spot participants, Little Star parents, Eltingville kollel members, Young Israel of Eltingville congregants and other Oorah friends and volunteers. It was wonderful to see members from the broad spectrum of klal yisroel, from the Rosh Kollel to those who had never experienced a siyum before, join together in celebration. The Torah Spot room was set up festively as befitted the occasion.

Rabbi Yaakov Rosenfeld MC’d the evening and Rabbi Biderman explained the meaning and special importance of this siyum. There was an actual siyum in which Oleg completed the last few pesukim of the Torah and Rav Chaim Mintz gave words of inspiration. Oleg Bobrysh then spoke about the relevance of Torah and his learning over the last few years, thanking his Torah Mate Rabbi and Mrs. Yaakov Fisheles and saying how much he has learned from Rabbi Mintz’s weekly classes. He also spoke about Little Star and now having both his sons learning in a Jewish school. It was inspiring to hear about the journey that this family has embarked upon and their continued growth in Torah. The Torah Spot then presented a leather-bound inscribed book to Oleg and Alla Bobrysh as a momento of this special occasion.

As with all Oorah events, food was in abundance with a full fleishig buffet. Rabbi Reichman provided musical accompaniment and the men got up to join in dance. It was, all in all, an evening to be remembered!
