Sukkos

Sukkos is an exciting Yom Tov that comes along with many of its own special mitzvos and customs. Oorah is there to guide our families through it all. Our volunteers check and package countless sets of arba minim, and help put up the many sukkas that Oorah provides, together with the enthusiastic help of the family members. Oorah also arranges a lively Simchas Bais Hoshoeva for our families and staff as well as Chol Hamoed trips for our campers.

Camp activities

In addition to our sports programs, our camps offer a wide range of other activities. Zip lines, bumper boats and alpine sliding are just some of the exciting activities that attract our campers.

Torah Mates

Torah Mates is the centerpiece of our adult learning program and has branched out to include a program for our campers as well. It is a one-on-one learning partnership formed by our own matchmakers, based on areas of common interest and compatibility. Most TorahMates learn by phone once a week, enabling people to fit the program into any available corner of their schedule. Some partners learn in person. In either mode, the learning partners often

Purim

Purim is a time of giving and strengthening friendships. Oorah’s own Purim seuda, along with beautifully arranged Mishloach Manos boxes, allow us to reach out and show an Oorah family that we really care. Your donation will bring smiles to their faces on the happiest day of the Jewish calendar.

Torah Spot

To enhance Jewish life in Oorah’s original home territory – Staten Island, NY – Oorah operates a community center featuring weekly classes for local families. For many, our weekly Torah Spot gatherings are not only a source of inspiration but a chance to connect with the many other families in the community as well as chance to meet and get to know many of our volunteers and staff members.

Sports Equipment

Sports are an integral part of any camping experience, and we play it right! Our high quality sports equipment and state of the art facilities will not only bring out the best in our campers athletic abilities, but will also rejuvenate them and allow us to send them back home refreshed and ready to start the new school year.

Camp Scholarship

Being a student in yeshiva allows a child to learn what it means to be a Jew. Being a camper in TheZone lets him live it. For four solid weeks, our campers are among counselors, who serve as ambassadors of a Torah life. By giving the gift of a full scholarship, you can jump start a life of Torah and mitzvos for a camper – from keeping Shabbos for the very first time, baking challah, or learning about keeping kosher, the warm memories of summer wi

Sponsor A Child

Sending a child to yeshiva is the best investment you could make. Surrounded by a positive atmosphere our children will grow to live and love their Jewish heritage. But for a student in public school, the chances of leading a life in Torah and mitzvos decrease with each year he remains there. By offsetting the cost of switching to yeshiva, you will not only effectively change the course of his life, but all our lives. With your generous donation

Shavuos

As we count toward the day we received the torah, you can help a less affiliated Jew start his own journey toward kabalas hatorah. With Oorah’s various programs and all night Shavuos learning we hope to instill a pride and joy in being part of the Jewish nation.

Jewish Milestones

In many cases our families are journeying through a new territory with many new celebrations to cherish. Oorah steps in to assume the roles of both family and mentor. Being part of the Oorah family gives them a sense of belonging and a feeling of pride in being part of the Chosen Nation. Your donation will create an atmosphere that will be the catalyst for many more Simchas.

Pesach

Making Pesach can be a frightening prospect, but as the holiday approaches Oorah swings into full gear to ensure that every member of the Oorah family will have a meaningful, memorable encounter with the Yom Tov that makes us a nation.

Chanukah

Chanukah is family time. Let our kiruv families know that Oorah is family by helping us send out our Chanukah packages filled with just what they and the children in their life need to make all 8 nights a real celebration. Let them also connect with their extended Oorah family at our annual Chanukah concert.

Tzniyut clothing in girls division

Give a camper at TheZone the chance to dress as the regal princess she is. Help her bring out her inner beauty by starting off her tznius wardrobe.

ChillZone

Each Motzei Shabbos volunteers run a full program at each of our ChillZone locations that includes learning, entertainment, and plenty of refreshments. The boys enjoy a fun and relaxed program in which they can ‘chill out’ while forging a kesher with their counselors and torahMates.

Little Star Preschool Items

The lessons learned at Oorah’s preschool are the building blocks for a future Torah education. Our toddlers will pass on their childish enthusiasm, sparking an interest in the rest of their family. Your sponsorship will allow us to purchase high quality games, books and toys that meet government regulations for safety and stability, nutritious snacks and lunches, and projects that will please the parents and enhance their learning.

Shabbat with Oorah

Oorah’s Yom Tov and Shabbos retreats bring dozens of our kiruv and volunteer families together. While enjoying the country ambiance of TheZone’s campgrounds, with sumptuously prepared gourmet meals, inspiring shiurim and discussions, and entertainment for all ages, the newly frum family can take their place as a member of Oorah’s tremendous extended family.

Sponsor an animal in TheZone’s petting zoo

Whether it’s an early morning milking or a late afternoon feeding, our campers and staff take on the responsibility of caring for TheZones many animals. Some enjoy bottle feeding the lambs or cuddling the bunnies, while other carefully groom the horses, and take them for a trot out in the open. The campers develop a sense of responsibility as well as an affinity toward the animals.

Learning in Israel

Our Campers are continuously growing in their Judaism. Attending Yeshiva in Israel gives them a chance to learn and grow in their yiddishkiet in a nurturing, encouraging environment. Unfortunately many parents don’t have the means to support this goal. This is a chance to become a partner in helping bring generations closer to Hashem

Chessed Fund

Oorah’s Chessed Fund steps in to alleviate families of the financial difficulties they may encounter while adjusting to their new life style. By helping out with the rent, Yom Tov expenses and providing counseling we hope to create a pleasant atmosphere in which they can thrive and continue on the path they’ve courageously set out on.

Shabbos in Camp

Shabbos is a highlight in camp, and for many of our campers it sparks the beginning of their journey toward Judaism. The warm memories of a beautiful kabalas shabbos on the lake, festive seudos with spirited singing and our special shabbos programs will insure that their first impressions of this special day will stay with them and give them the strength to continue a lifelong “shabbos revolution”.

Ask the Rabbi Shailos

At different points throughout the year, an Oorah staff member makes himself available to answer all the various shailos our kiruv families may have. Questions involving Halachos, Yom Tov, Hashkafa, or Chinuch advice, are answered by qualified Rabbis who take the time to understand each situation and offer the best guidance possible.
